Birthday Wishes

 Hello All!

Tonight I am posting a card made for the Color Hues Challenge #60 where they asked for blue and turquoise. I felt like using my neglected alcohol inks, so this is what I came up with.

I played with the Ranger alcohol inks from in my stash and made a large mess panel. It took days and never really dried. My heat gun used as a last result burned and wrinkled a good portion of the Yupo paper. This rectangle part is the best I could come up with.

The ink colors are called Celestial and Aqua, hopefully close enough to the required hues. As I said, the ink wouldn't dry, so I did dab with a paper towel which left some subtle dimension if you look closely.

The card base is Stampin' Up! Bermuda Bay and the sentiment by STAMPlorations was cut twice and glued together to stand out and to mimic the white border on the panel. Did you hear Shery is doing better? Am so pleased for her and the family.

Time to have some dinner. Bye for now from a nice sunny day, but cold March evening here in MN. Spring will come and I do  like the longer days.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you will come by again.

  1. Alcohol inks can be so tricky to play with, but the results are AMAZING and I'm just loving your results with the blue and aqua...your perseverance definitely paid off Jeanne! I love the simple white die cut sentiment and white border against the AI rectangle and against the Bermuda Bay card base too...lovely, lovely card! Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Color Hues Challenge! Marcia (DT)

  2. One thing I definitely understand is the mess one can make with alcohol inks. I, however, rarely come up with panels as beautiful as yours! I love how you've framed it in white which really sets off the lovely colors. Thanks for joining us at Color Hues!

  4. Hi, Jeanne - alcohol inks are quirkiest when you are trying to get something DONE. They are amazing on those days that you are just playing around...you never know what those inks are thinking... But your card is just beautiful and I am thinking that it would be a great one to CAS. Susan
