CCC for January 2024

 Hello There!

This card has been sent off to Canada to my card pal for January. I followed a video by Joy Baldwin on YouTube, CASEing it pretty closely. The die set is called Lovey Layers: Winter Bird a set by Honey Bee.

I used a SU card base in Basic Gray and die cut the largest oval from an old SU/Sizzix set called Stitched Shapes. Because I wanted my cardinal to be the star of the show, this card is CAS, my favorite type of card.

I constructed the bird from a piece of Red Pepper Linen cardstock from The Paper Connection. Have been hoarding that as I have have only one sheet. I followed Joy's video nearly completely here but changed up the other things.

After I glued down my bird, I realized I should have positioned him on the other side of the oval, but I sure didn't want him to fall apart. So unfortunately he isn't looking at the greeting. Oops.

From a scrap of brown paper I cut two branches from the Iconic Dies set by SU. Since the tail was not glued down, it was easy to slide the twigs underneath.

The friend greeting, another option this month besides birds, acknowledges this card exchange helps us make friends from all across the globe. The hello friend is from a SU set called Inked & Tiled.

It is still available. While it was a bit fiddley making this cardinal, it was worth it, I think. A piece of white cardstock is inside where I wrote a note.

Done. I hope it arrives before the end of the month.

Theme Options: Mythical Creatures / Birds / Friendship

Thank you for visiting and I hope you will come by again.

  1. What a great card using the sketch Jeanne! Your cardinal is SO bright red - he just pops off your white oval - so pretty with the branch for him to stand on! Julia xx

  2. Such an elegant card, Jeanne. I hadn't noticed about where the bird should be positioned - still looks great to me. Thanks for being a lovely link in our chain again, Jo x

  3. This is beautiful Jeanne and it doesn't matter a bit that the cardinal has looked away from the greeting for a minute! I love the pop of red with the neutrals too. Vicky x

  4. I love this. That red and grey look stunning and I don't think it matters that the bird isn't looking at the greeting. He can't read it anyway xx

  5. I don't think I would have noticed the cardinal looking away from the sentiment unless you had pointed it out. I don't care which way the dear faces - it's quite vivid and outstanding. Arlene

  8. Jeanne, I can see why you have been hoarding that gorgeous red paper! You know I love my cardinals and you showcased him beautifully against the grey. I don't think it matters at all that he's looking away - he's gorgeous just the way he is! Hope you are having a fabulous week
